Which one is better, A-List Desktop or A-List for iPhone?
The two versions have largely the same functionality once the doors to your event open. The difference is that A-List Desktop is the only tool you can use to get your guestlists to the A-List servers. Which version you use at your door depends on your resources- whether you can put a computer at your door to run A-List Desktop, or whether you have an iPhone available to you.

Downloading my guestlists onto my iPhone seems to take a long time. Is there anything I can do to speed that up?
Yes, connect to a Wi-fi network. Anything you want to do on the iPhone that requires use of the Internet, such as downloading your guestlists or saving your changes, works faster if you are using wi-fi rather than your phone service provider’s network. So it’s quickest to download your guestlists before the event from a place that has a wi-fi connection available.

What if we have multiple list handlers working the door of an event, and we check in different guests as the event progresses. Who should synchronize first? Is it dangerous if we synch in the wrong order?
It does not matter who saves their changes first. However, so that everyone sees everyone else’s changes, all but the last person to save their changes should do the same thing a second time before checking in more guests. This ensures that all listhandlers see the last person’s changes.

What should I do with my guest list(s) once the event is over?
On A-List Desktop, click the “Save All Changes” link on the bottom of the list browser screen, and your reports will immediately be available the next time you log into a-listsoftware.net.
On A-List for iPhone, tap the "Save All Changes" button on the home screen of the app.

What if my computer crashes in the middle of my event?
Every guest you check in through A-List gets automatically saved on your computer’s hard drive or on your iPhone/iPad as you check them in. If you have a crash or other disruption, simply open A-List again and all your changes throughout the event will still be there. Just click the View Loaded Event button visible when you first open A-List Desktop or A-List for iPhone. When your event is over, or if you need to synchronize with other listhandlers, click the Save All Changes link at the bottom of the list browser screen to synchronize with the A-List servers.

I want to copy and paste my guest list into the A-List Desktop, but all of my first and last names/initials are in one column.
What’s the right way to separate them?
No need to separate them. It’s OK to have a full name in either just the FirstName column or the Last Name column. The entire name will still appear when you are using A-List to check in guests, and you will still be able to find those names when you do your searches.

How long after my event will I be able to pull up reports for that event?
Reports for your event will be available for 7 days following the recorded Start Date of the event. You can double-check that date on the website when you view the details of your event.

Is it safe to transmit my guestlists like this across the Internet?
With A-List, yes. Security of your guestlists as vital to us as it is to you. All the private information you send to A-List via this website is protected by SSL encryption. That’s the same data-scrambling technology used by online banking, government agencies, and all the biggest organizations you trust who ask you for your personal info, credit card numbers, etc.
When you upload a guestlist via A-List Desktop or save changes after an event, all the information contained in your lists is scrambled before it gets sent to us, and then doesn’t get unscrambled until it it’s in our hands.

It would be faster for me if I could use just the keyboard to check in our guests on A-List Desktop.
Are there keystrokes to navigate the searching and my guestlists?
Ctrl + S to start a new name search
Tab to move to the guestlist from the Search For Guest box
Arrow keys to move up, down, and across the guestlist
Space bar to check and uncheck the “Attended” column

I can’t find any way to print from A-List Desktop.
That’s right. All our hard work at A-List Software was to develop a paperless guestlist-administration suite. However, if you would like a printed copy of all your guestlists prior to an event, perhaps as a backup, your best option is to download the Pre-Event Printout” report from reports page of the A-List website (you'll have to
login first). When looking at the Event Details page for your event, click the View Reports link at the bottom, then select “Pre-Event Printout”, in the small- or larger-print formats.
